Event Details & Program Overview:
The skin is the largest organ in the body. Dermatological disorders account for at least 20% of patient complaints in family practices.
This special in-person program, which has a separate registration, is running ahead of the NSWOCC 43rd National Conference at the Hyatt Regency Calgary in Calgary, AB from 9am-6pm on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 and will highlight common diagnosis and treatments in the field of dermatology, including:
Introduction: Evaluation of enablers for common dermatological conditions
Review and differentiation of topical steroids and moisturizers
Stages and management approaches for atopic dermatitis
Management of skin-related infections including Staph. Aureus, Herpes Simplex, and Zoster
Assessment and treatment of Hidradenitis Suppurativa
Recognition of common features of benign skin lesions and suggested treatment options
Identification of subtypes of psoriasis and integration of topical & systemic treatments
Evaluation and treatment of common premalignant/malignant wound lesions and wounds
Introduction to common biopsy procedures and their integration into practice
Identification and management of inflammatory lesions such as Bullous Pemphigoid and Pyoderma Gangrenosum
Recognition and treatment of scabies, bites, stings (including bed bugs), fungal, yeast, and nail infections
Identification of common associations with hives and development of an approach to the treatment of acute/chronic urticaria
Open question and answer period to review enablers for Dermatology bridging education to practice
Designed for advanced healthcare professionals who are non-dermatologists, participants will increase their expertise to improve dermatological patient outcomes. This program is aimed at:

Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence (NSWOCs)

Earn Credits & a certificate of attendance:
7 hours of CME credits, which count towards 2 units of micro-credential credits. This session will give physicians 7 hours of continuing education credits and equivalent standing for other healthcare professions. The dermatology micro-credential for the innovation fund will include a total of 30 credits.

Whether you attended last year's program or are joining us for the first time on May 1, 2024, this lab offers invaluable hands-on experience.
To register for this ticket type, you MUST have already registered for the Wednesday Dermatology session, or if you already attended the Dermatology Program at last year’s 2023 National Conference in Ottawa, ON.
